Hello! My name is Amy Mason, owner of Like Magick Restoration.
I'll be happy to answer your questions.
If you don't see your answer here please feel free to message me.
I restore most objects of art including ceramic, porcelain, china, chalkware, composition dolls, resin statues, glass and more.
I restore using the cold method, meaning I do not refire in a kiln so none of my finished work is designed to be used with food. I start with cleaning and looking for previous breaks. I hand sculpt missing pieces using various air dry epoxy clays that simulate the weight and feel of the original material. I can also make a copy using various resins and mold making materials. After filling and sculpting I paint by hand or use an airbrush to match the original paint and I strive for an invisible repair. I can quote estimates for simple repairs vs invisible repairs.
With glass repair, I use a tinted epoxy to help blend in the damage because you cannot completely hide a crack in glass but the tint does help hide the line. I have restored metal as well. I like a challenge and am always researching and testing new products to help in the process of restoration.
Contact me either through this website, email, Facebook Messenger or Instagram. Send me clear photographs of the piece in question. I will reply with a rough estimate for the cost of the repairs depending on extent desired. My estimates do not include return shipping. I do use Pirateship so return shipping costs are very reasonable.
I love doing this type of work and I offer significantly lower rates than comparable repair shops because I want to make it more affordable to the average collector so they don't have to pay "museum quality" repair costs.
When you ship your item(s) please include your name, social media name and mailing address. When I ship completed orders back to you I take extra time making sure the items are packed well but once it leaves my hands I am not responsible for shipping damages.
I offer a rough estimate of time once I accept your order. Timeframes depend on the extent of damage, acquiring any additional components or supplies and my busy schedule as a homeschooling mom. Typically one piece takes about 2 weeks from start to finish. WAITLIST IS FULL AS OF January 2024. Watch for updates regarding next waitlist sometime mid year. Thank you.
Visit my Facebook or Instagram accounts where I post regularly and often feature reels containing how to's and tips, suggestions on care of antiques as well as product mentions.
My goal is to put a smile on every customer's face. If ever a customer is unhappy with a repair, I will pay for return shipping and addition work on the original agreed repair. I put a lot of time and product into each repair therefore I do not offer full refunds. Most of my customers are looking for repairs for their personal collection and heirlooms. My repairs are not intended to be sold as new.
